ACUPUNCTURE

Stacks Image 7191

Acupuncture is a discipline that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has been practiced for more than 2500 years and is now used all over the world.

According to Chinese Medicine, vital energies (Qi, also translated as breath or flow) and blood (Xue) circulate over the surface through channels called meridians and more deeply throughout the body.

If the harmonic flow of Qi and blood is upset, energetic obstructions can be formed. Each blockage creates a condition of pain and illness.

Acupuncture acts by adjusting and balancing the flow of energy and blood with the scope of restoring the harmony and equilibrium in the body.
Acupuncture points are found on these meridians, on extraordinary meridians and also outside of the meridian. The points are chosen on the basis of the diagnosis that is made.

Acupuncture relaxes muscles, is analgesic, has a calming effect on the mind and refreshes metabolism locally along with the normal functioning in the area. It’s not simply a pain therapy but has a therapeutic effect through the autonomic nervous system, the nerve pathways in general and the brain. Locally the insertion of a needle increases the microcirculation and reactivates one’s metabolism and, therefore, results in a local anti-inflammatory response.
The needles utilized are hair-thin, sterile and disposable. Depending on the pathology, one may need 6 to 10 treatments. For an acute problem such as a stiff neck, usually just one session is sufficient. For other more complex problems, a longer period of time may be needed for treatment.
